I got on the Brown line train for the first time in a bit and, right across from me, was an ad for “The Brave New Art World”. I had just discussed with my business partner, Rudy, when we would we take a night and have extended hours. Here was our cue – “Open house” begins May 2nd, 5-8pm.

Great! Exactly the tie-in we wanted to have with our community. Meanwhile Rudy had spoken to Claire from Brave New Art World but hadn’t met yet. Thus, I run across the street in the rain, have a wonderful meeting with some inspirational people, and get the low down.

What is this Brave New Art World? Well, right from their manifesto, it’s “an arts unification movement dedicated to the service of consciousness: ART IS FOR THE PEOPLE.”

Wow, I’m loving this already. But there is more: Brave New Art World maintains “there is infinite, inherent value in the practice, product and distribution of art as a vehicle for consciousness. This vehicle inevitably affects every ripple of human society and therefore art is for everyone; it demands to be shared.”

I’m hooked and so excited to be a part of this mission. Im a big fan of accessible art, community and sharing. It’s lovely when it presents itself organically and everything just falls into place. After talking with Rudy, we’re both on board, raring and ready to go.

How will Creativo Framing fit in with First Thursdays Open Studios? We will have a collaborative drawing table where EVERYONE is invited to get inspired and share a bit of themselves by creating a community art piece. A variety of River North galleries will be open, there will be public performance pieces, critical talks, and wonderful food and beverage sponsors. Art IS “a vehicle for consciousness” and it’s just wonderful to consciously indulge. I could go on for hours on this topic but until those blogs come out, I’ll invite everyone to stop by and experience it for themselves. Please come by and share art with us at Creativo, Thursday, May 2 (and every first Thursday thereafter) from 5-8pm. It will make you wear your smile as your umbrella even on the rainiest of days. I know it’s done that for me.

wow, look at these innovative angled cornerframes from yvonne schroeder for the german company details. these would be great for dead corners or spots in homes where mechanicals have been hidden behind drywall.

find them in natural maple or beech black finishes, and choose from inside or outside corner styles through the details website. dimensions for the inside frame are 29.5 x 29.5 x 3.2 cm, height 40 cm (about 11″ x 11″ x 1.3″, 16″ tall); outside are 26 x 15.5 x 3.2 cm, height 33 cm (about 10.5″ x 6″ x 1.3″, 13″ tall) they also make custom sizes.

don’t lose your mind when you see how much the ones in production are, though (198 € for inside and 224 € for outside).
